Non Immigrant Visas Which Generally Do Not Permit US Employment Are:
B-1 BUSINESS VISITOR VISA
This is the most common type of business visas issued. It is particularly appropriate for a person who intends to enter the United States to negotiate contracts, make purchases or sales, investigate business associates, participate in professional or business conventions.
The admission period permitted is generally limited to the time necessary to conduct the business at hand. Cannot be issued in periods longer than one year.
B-2 TOURIST VISA
Used by most visitors to the U.S. who wish to travel, sightsee, or to engage in other non vocational activities. Visitors whose principal purpose in US is visit with family and friends, sightseeing, shopping, to seek medical treatment, and similar temporary purposes are generally classified as B-2 visitors. B-2 visitors, like all non immigrant visa classifications, may only enter the United States temporarily, and must show that they have a permanent residence abroad which they have no intention of abandoning.
An admission period of six months duration is usually granted for each entry.
C Visa (Continuous Transit and TWOVs)
This is air visa which applies only to certain specified passengers who seek immediate and continuous transit through the United States, and certain persons in transit under the United Nations Headquarters agreement. Similarly, TWOV passengers are those passengers in transit between places outside United States and who are merely changing aircraft or passenger line in United States and will not attempt to clear U.S. immigration or customs.
D Visa (Crewman)
D Visas are issued to individuals serving as crewman in operation service aboard a foreign vessel.
